Community

SinceĀ its very beginning in 1977, Jerusalem is an intercultural, international community for young and old, for families and singles. “Jerusalem, city of peace, welcomes everyone, rich or poor, whatever his culture, tongue, nationality or race” is one of the main sentences in our charter, our union with each other. We are a catholic community, but with a warm heart for our other christian brothers and sisters. Nowadays we are with more or less 80 adults of all ages, 25 young people and as many children. We meet once a month for a day of prayer and gathering in Vaalbeek, close to Leuven. We also come together on a Friday evening for prayer and teaching.

Even though every one of us has his own house, family and work or activities, we want to support each other in the way we chose to serve the Lord and we want to deepen our loving committed relationships. That is why we also meet in small sharing groups once a month, to share our life as christians, our daily struggles and our needs. We pray for each other, we speak about what God is saying to us and what He is showing us in our lives, about his mercy and faithfulness. We meet for bible discussions and for Men’s Nights and Women’s Lunches to encourage each other.
And of course we have “fun” activities like barbecues, birthday parties, celebrations and youth activities, but also retreats as a community to deepen our faith.
